Im so full of Scrap

So far this year I have been feeling the artsy side in me trying its best to bust through! I have always wanted to go to art school...and maybe even teach art....maybe some miracle will happen and Ill be able to do that before I am too old! lol. So I have been doing some baking and decorating some cakes. I have this awesome cake I made for my step daughters 17th birthday. It was a yummy almond cake with Raspberry frosting. My all new fav! Decorating was so super easy! The key is having the right tip (1M) and the right bag! Tomorrow I am making a strawberry one for my Nannys Sunday School class....I cant wait to see how that one turns out.

Wow, Cant believe its been so long since I have posted! Life has really been moving along. Ill have so much to update on. One big ol reason I havnt been blogging is my laptop died on me! Boooo hooo!! I mean really, what the heck? Now I cant deceide if I want to have it worked on or just break down and buy a new one. So anywho! Havnt been crafting much, but I have been baking and cooking and doing a few things. Miles is 27 mths old now. Seems like I just had him. Times does fly, but again seems like I have had a fussy baby for EVER! He is so wild, I cant seem to keep up. He is trying to talk in sentances....which may not be a good thing haha. When he does something wrong, he will go ahead and spank his self. I find this very funny, and saves me from feeling bad from having to do it myself. So there you have it. Here is a cute pic of him laughting at his birthday party. Looks cute huh....right before we gathered everyone for the big ol Happy Birtday song...he takes a big ol yucky in his diaper, nice huh? So my child!

For more serious news of the homefront. We lost a beloved pet last summer. My heart was completly broken. Still is. I cant believe Rock is not laying at my feet as I type this. I could NOT have ask for a better dog. He was the easiest to potty train, he loved to sleep, he loved to lay on my lap, he knew when I was sick, he was the best. He accepted Miles the very moment we came home with him. Even though I had some nut case of a dog whisperer try to tell me to get rid of him. She said he was going to eat my baby....these people kill me. Yea he really killed him alright, does drowing in dog slobber count? Miles raced cars up and down his back, he put things in mouth, he rode his back like a horse. He inspected every part of that poor dogs body...and I mean EVERY part! lol I will forever miss my best friend. I miss cleaning out his ears and eyes. I miss plucking the hair from around his teeth, yea the hair......do not ask.....I have no idea. I miss letting him out to poop at the last minute because he was so lazy he would hold it in. I miss putting baby blue PJs on him. I miss riding him in the car and people giving us double looks. I miss taking him to park with Miles. I miss just laying in the bed or on the couch with him on a lazy rainy saturday afternoon. I honestly believe dogs go to heaven. And I cant wait to pet his soft sweet head again one day. Im sure he is sitting at my doorstep now, sleeping and waiting for me to come home. Im not sure Ill ever be able to have another pet. I hope so. And Im sure I will. I see the smile and light in Miles eyes when he sees a sweet dog. So I know Ill break down and get him one one day when he is old enough. Until then Ill say good night and touch Rocks urn each night, and sometimes hold it and cry just a little.

I love spring and cant wait! Spring pictures just seem to have a glimmer to them. Here is an old picture of me and my 2 cousins with my great grandma from back in the 80s. I am guessing I was 5 . She loved the spring and summer to get out and work in the yard. She past away this past fall and I will deeply miss her. But she left behind so many good memories that no one can away from me.
Here are also some layouts I did last year for Easter. Can you find my very obvious mistake?!

Boo in the Zoo 2010

I love Halloween. The fun of dressing up and going out in the crisp air for strangers candy! Ok, other than the "strange" candy, its really fun to dress up. But most of all, I love to work on Halloween scrap pages. They always seem to just flow together. So Brett and I took Miles and Mercy to Boo in the Zoo for the 1st time. It was really crowed, but the line moved fast. If you havnt been dont expect to see any animal in their costume, or any animals for that matter. There were a few. Reptile house was open, some goats to pet and monkeys that screamed at us. It was a fun adventure anyway. I believe their park there is the best feature. They have this awesome rubber mulch! So I dont have to pick it out of my shoes! This year Miles will be older and can get down and play more.

Birthday Day Scrappages

So I am just now getting around to working on Miles 1st birthday page. These have been so fun, because I love all the photos that were taking. It was such a perfect day. And each time I look at them I think of the warmth of the sun and the laughter in the air that day. I try to cherish each day with him. I know one day he will be a grown man and leave the nest. Knowing I will have all these wonderful memories is the only thing that prepares me for that.
I also took most of his birthday cards and put them in his scrapbook. I hope one day he will love to look back at them and read all the messages loved ones sent him.

I had a fun busy weekend! I got to go to 2 crops and share some laughs with friends and got a lot done in the meantime!
As you know I love to do altered projects. I found these ugly plaques at Mighty Dollar for one buck! Then I found the pair of dinosaurs for a buck too. I had a pack of dinosaur paper and simply covered it up! The cheapest, most simply things always turn out so darn cute!

Christmas 2010

Miles came down with a high temp on the 23rd. We thought for sure he would be sick all through Christmas. With lots of care and prayers he was feeling much better by Christmas day. We enjoyed a quiet day at home watching the snow fall and playing with Miles new toys. I did miss my family , but happy to spend it with my husband and baby.
Most of the day Miles stood in our bay window and looked at the window. He played with Handy Manny and his laptop.
The night before he helped his daddy make cookies for Santa. They turned out very well...yummy!

As well as doing hands on craftiness, I love to get great shots of people and nature. Here is a few shots of Gilreath Mill in Greer SC. Brett and I were riding around and found this awesome place right on the road. I dont know much of the story behind it, but the pictures turned out great.
Also inside, it is still full of stuff! I have no idea how long the stuff has been there. I cant imagine anyone being able to walk in there, the floors look like they would fall right through. But I would love to get in there and look around at all that old stuff.

Miles 1st Birthday!!

I cant believe a year has went by since I gave birth to my sweet baby Miles. We tried to give him the best birthday party ever! I know he wont remember, but he will always have pictures to look back on. And each year will only get better!!

So almost everything from his party was handmade......I find so much joy in doing this and plus I save the muhlaa!

Here is his cake. Simple small cake iced. I found some Wiltons candy decorations at Mighty dollar. So I used all the party hats out of it to go around the outside. The one on top was made by using my cricut.

I also made his cupcakes. These were very simple. I used my cricut to cut out each party hat, and then cut out a "m" to put on them for Miles. I got one of those cupcake stands, which I think made it look much nicer!

Making his party decorations were fun too!! Again I put that cricut to work!
I made a banner and with the left overs I made a poster. On the banner, I cut out scalloped circles using my nestiabilites and cuddle bug. I put a picture of him on each one from through out the year.

Miles loves his cake and all his presents, and thank you to all the wonderful family and friends that came to celebrate with him!

Treat Bags

These are special little treat bags I made for my 4 step children. They are crafty themselves and really appreciate any crafty thing they receive. So here are so some simple treat bags.
I found some orange bags a couple of years ago and K&Company put out these die cuts a few years ago. I think they still make them. Just glued to the front. Used some stamps and made some labels to jazz it up.
For the first time I attempted to make these chocolate suckers. It is a lot easier than it looks. I though they turned out pretty cute!

I love sending and receiving any type of card. So lately I found a folder of all the beautiful baby shower cards we got at our baby showers. What a better way to keep them than to put them in my scrapbook!
My friend Angie made me a sweet and oh so cute card, which is across the top. I matted it on the envelope she gave me, which matched prefect!
The messages are from the insides of cards. The bear and "baby" are from the covers of other cards.
Cant wait to get started on more, this was so fun!

Last week my family went to downtown Greenville and took some pictures. Miles is 11 mths now and I wanted to get some good pictures of him at the park. He is such a little wiggler. But we didn manage to get a few good shots. I cant wait to scrapbook them!

Paper Bag Album

So this is my 2nd paper bag album. I am still working on the 1st one. I made this for my mom for her 1st grandparents day. Its all in neutral colors because I had a neutral baby pack of paper. I learned that is the key to making one of these. If all the paper coordinates, it will flow and look a lot better than trying to match up scraps ( which you can still do) .

These are just normal size lunch bags, but I followed directions from watching youtube videos, I watch several so I wont call out just one. But one thing I did learn was to cut the bag to make it 4x6. It is naturally 4 inches but I cut down on the open part of the bag to make it 6. I think it will come about 7 inches. This helps in saving paper, since the paper I was using was 12x12. This left me with some scrap pieces that are perfect sizes to go back and make the pockets and folders.

I didnt make a video ( I dont have the set up or quiet time). So I just made a slide show, but you can get the idea. I dont think I got the front inside cover. Maybe once my mom goes back and puts pictures inside I will make another slide show so you can how it turns out!

Baby Dinosaur

Miles is about 10 1/2 months here. He has really got the walking thing down! He is all over the place, no stopping him now. We call him the baby dinosaur, he looks like a T Rex with those arms and that growl........SO SILLY!!

Another one of my favorites! This was made using Bo Bunny paper, love their paper lines. Some neat looking ribbon/fiber stuff....just did a little pleating to make it look a little more girlie. The flowers are prima flowers, I think I mixed and match different sets. The Cherish is a rub on. thanks Angie! I needed a little sentiment and she had the perfect thing! And yes Miles is a boy through and through, so all the pink and ruffles are for me since I cant girlie up any of his pages :)

This turned out to be one of the most simple Layouts, but one of my most favorites. I kept it clean and easy. Miles is about 1 month old here and was starting to lift his head a little more. I think I got an amazing shot of him.

Fall is coming! My favorite time of year. I love the weather changing and it is time for all 3 of our birthdays! Brett in September, Miles in October and then mine in November. Let the fun begin! So to celebrate my favorite time of year I signed up for a swap on fiskateers.com to do a Halloween ATC. What better than The Great Pumpkin!!!

So this ATC involved a purple background ( Bazzil ) which I sprayed with this really cool stuff called Smooch Spray! You can find it here https://www.trendyrightnow.com/shopping/default.asp?GID=45 . I won it on a challenge from Fanceypapercrafters.ning.com. I printed my Peanuts characters from google, and cut them out. The best part was the moon! I love how it turned out. First I glued down some tissue paper on top of the yellow cardstock. Then I sprayed more of the Smooch spray (silver foil) all over it…next I took my circle punch and punched them out!

Altered Letters

I love love love altering things. It is so easy and quick and can look like you spent all day on it. Here are the letters I plan on hanging in my sons room. I tried to do something that I could change the theme with. So this was very simple, wooden letters from Hobby Lobby, half off! Which made them only 1.50 a piece. Paper on sale, it took 3 sheets of 12x12. I just used a glue stick and covered the front of the letters and then used my fiskars handy knife to trim around the letters. I can get so close with it that I do not need to do any sanding or trimming. I just glued on some buttons and twine to add to it, but it really looked good enough without it. Ill be sure to post pictures once we get them hung up too.

Valentine card for my sweetie. Making any kind of card for guy is always a challenge for me. I think these colors worked out well. I did get a little bubbling on the card, I should have used a different adhesive. But he enjoyed it anyway :)

Here is a new layout I did for a challenge, on one of my scrapbook groups. We had to go by a sketch and try to duplicate it . I used my cricut to cut out the heart, and used my distressing ink by Ranger. I used cute rhinestones and baubles to give it a little bling.

CDF Training

So on Friday Jan 30th, I had the opportunity to go to a Certified Fiskars Demonstrator training session at this wonderful scrap store, The Funkie Munkie! So my best friend Angie went with me and we had a blast! We met new friends and laughed and learned all together.
I would really like to thank Debby Lewis for coming up from Columbia to take the time to show us the way!

Altered Projects

So thanks to the snow we got last night, I didnt get to go to work today. But was quite scary driving home though! So today I had to keep myself busy. I had bought this jumbo clothespin and mini clipboard for a buck a while back , so today I had time to do something with them .
Both of these were so simple! I covered with paper, made a few bows and added some lady bugs. I had gotten these cute lady bugs years ago at wal mart and didnt know what to do with them! So there you have it, I have now used them :)

Today I worked on a Valentine card for my mom. This was 4 heart shaped chipped board I have had and I just decorated each page, and used my wonderful Cropadile to punch holes in the top and added some rings and covered in ribbon. My fiskers hand knife worked out so well on this. What a time saver!

Penny Black Winter Tree

Penny Black makes beautiful stamps, I think they are most of my favorites . Here is what I call , The Winter Tree. A 6x6 card, the 2nd layer I tried to paper pierce by hand, so you can see some imperfections, but you get the idea. I stamped using Staz On white, which I am not crazy about. Yes it STAYS ON. And never comes off of anything it touches. Of course they sell their own cleaner, but its hard to find. But it dosnt stamp well even on this dark shade of purple I selected. So I touch up the tree with some Snow and some Bling. The ribbon is simply a black sheer with white polka dots.

This is the easiest thing ever! This was one of the 1st things I did with my cricut. Simply cut out , I think this was a 6 inch cut. and then do the "shadow" for it.. Add a little ribbon on top, and there ya go! Great gift for the pooch! Rock gave it a 2 paws up!!

I am off on Mondays and that is usually my day to get caught up on card swaps or house work...I get some of both done! So today I did my V-day cards for a swap on Fiskateers that my friend Angie is hosting :) .....I used a stamp from Hero and covered in wrinkled up tissue paper, a little ribbon a little stamp and there ya go!

So today I had to work, it wasn't so bad. After coming home and cooking lunch, I decided to work on some cards. I finished up a swap that I am in and then worked on a card for my aunt using my new stamps. I accidentally ran across these stamps while looking for Bella stamps, and I am glad I did. So in this card, I used a butterfly stamp from Autumn Leaves and stamped it several times and used silver embossing. Then I used prisma colors to color it. I used one on top of each other to give it a 3d affect. Cute huh? So the girl stamp are the new one from Stamptiviy, I cant wait to see all the cute cards I make with these.

So the 1st day of the year and what did I do?? I made cards of course! Oh yea and I stayed in my pjs all day long! My sweet man of mine even went to the store for me so I wouldnt have to stop what I was working on.....go ahead and say it....awwwww.....So anywho, this is what I did yesterday. A 6x6 card with a cute stamp by Impression Obsession , its called Eskimo Kisses. I used my buttons that I got from swap, they came in real handy! Its hard to tell from the pic, but I added some shiney snow to the snowmen that really add a nice touch.

Cupcake and Cherry 3x3 Card

This is a 3x3 card I did for a challenge on SCS (Splitcoaststampers) . Very easy, I used my cupcake stamp off of one of my Bella stamps. I double stamped it to get the raised look on the icing. Cute card to add to a gift!

Candy Bag Toppers

I was off work today and got a couple of things around the house cleaned up, but mainly got my craft stuff ready for my crop on Saturday. I cant wait! I have so much to work on , but I know that I will have artist block and sit there and look at Angie and try to think of something to do lol.
I did get something done today that I have put off for weeks, Christmas Cards!! I had to get a good picture of rock, this means taking 100 pictures and picking out the best one. For some reason he likes to close his eyes the whole time. But this is what I ended up with , I think he did good.

Shaker boxes

So I tried to make a shaker box. This was kinda messy. I made myself a "frame" and glue a piece of clear cellophane. Once I started to attach to card I just shook in some of the small glass beads. Here are a few cards I tried to make, they are not the best, trial and error huh. So you give it a shot and lets see yours :)

I love to shop after Christmas and get stuff cheap cheap cheap! Last year I got this roll of bath confetti for about a 25 cent and this year I am making 4 small gifts out of it! I first used my cricut to make these adorable boxes. I used Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for my boxes and made them at 5 iches, this allowed me to get 2 boxes out of a 12x12. I then used my Stretch your Imagination to make my ginger bread man, I cut him at 3 inches. I used small buttons for his buttons and simple did a shadow and a silhouette to complete him. I seperated the confetti in 4 little baggies, and made a tag to kinda give an idea of what it was! They turned out very cute I think! This would also be great for valentine candy or what not.

Another fav! Very simple card. The owl and birds are a rub on , the tag is a Heidi Grace and I backed it with a piece of paper and stamped happy birthday. Since I took this picture I went back and fill in the tag with Glossy, it makes it look kinda windowish. Very cute!

This is one of my favorites. I stamped the coffee cup imagine twice and cut them both out. The second one I cut on the cup out. Embossing an image before cutting it out helps alot, you kinda can control the lines better. The card itself had the polka dot design and I added a border with the floral design and used my white prisma color to enhance the lines a little more.

First let me say I take the worse pictures of these cards, so I will work on that...lol....But I made this card using my Inkadinkado stamps, which I love, they are perfect for card making. I made this for a dear friend of mine that I work with, Kalon. She made my birthday VERY special for me. She always gives the best gifts, she got me some HOMEMADE paper! I cant wait to use! So the least I could do was to thank her.
So the sayings in the circle are interchangable. This one says Thanks for making my day. I stamped in black and embossed in clear, and then cut the image out. Then attached the circle on top of the card with pop ups. I think flowers always add a great touch!
She loved it! And I know she will cherish it forever. Small things in life are what count! <-good one to remember ;)

Here are some valentine tag/cards I made for my girls at work 2/08. Simple stamps and embossing powder made the cute designs. The envelops were made of cardstock folded over and I used 4 eyelets to close them.
